BASE STATION

A base station is part of the radio access network, i.e. a device that realizes all the functionalities necessary for communication with mobile devices, its management, and data exchange with the core network. Depending on the output power and the size of the coverage area, there are several types of base stations (see: macrocell, small cell, picocell).
