RAN/gNB FUNCTIONAL SPLIT

The RAN/gNB functional split implies that the functionalities of RAN, i.e. gNB, are split into two entities: a central and a distributed unit. A single Central Unit communicates with several Distributed Units through the interface. The division of functionalities of the CU/DU depends on the needs of the network, i.e. the aimed performance.
