Term:

CARRIER AGGREGATION

Carrier Aggregation (CA) is a key technique in mobile networks to enable higher capacities (increase the data rate per user), whereby multiple frequency blocks, a.k.a. component carriers, are assigned to the same user.

Each frequency block is determined by carrier frequency and its bandwidth. By combining multiple blocks, the total bandwidth increases, and thus the data transfer rate per user. Different categories of mobile devices support different ways of carrier aggregation.
